Eoin G. Harty is fifth-generation horseman. His father, grandfather, great grandfather and great-great grandfather all trained horses. At age sixteen he went to work at the Irish National Stud then a year later moved to the United States, working in the business in California where he still makes his home.

He spent 14 years as an assistant trainer in California with John Russell and Bob Baffert.
